Book Review: I've Got Your Number

I’ve Got your Number by Sophie Kinsella

During a fire drill at a hotel, Poppy Wyatt loses her engagement ring which has been in her (seemingly perfect) fiancé’s family for generations.  And, on top of that, her phone gets stolen. So when she finds a perfectly good phone discarded in a nearby trashcan, she figures no one will mind if she takes it to use to help track down her engagement ring. Until she meet’s the phone’s owner, handsome, and somewhat uptight, businessman Sam Roxton.

This book is cute, fun, and lighthearted. In other words, a perfect beach read! Nothing I had to think too much about, but it kept me thoroughly entertained.

This book gets a B-

Book Review: Bossypants

Bossypants By Tina Fey

Tina Fey hilariously recounts her life, from being attacked by a total stranger in her yard as a child, to joining Second City improv group and becoming a writer and eventually regular cast member on Saturday Night Live, to the joys of marriage and motherhood.

Tina Fey is arguably one of the funniest, and smartest, women in "show-biz" today. Although this book may not be life changing, it was pretty darn funny, and it's always nice to know how down-to-earth and normal celebrities can be... even if they are super rich, have too many Emmy's to know what to do with, and are friends with Alec Baldwin...

I give it a B.

Book Review: Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers

STIFF: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach

Who knew there were so many things a dead body could do?!

Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers is a fascinating, and quite hilarious, book about many of the possibilities in which a human body can be used.

Like being able to tell how accurate car safety crash tests are.

Or being used by doctors to practice plastic surgery.

Or how (or if) a person would be able to survive a plane crash.

And my personal favorite, for crime scene investigation purposes (body farms y’all!).

You didn’t have to ace your high school anatomy class (or even have taken one) to understand the amazing things our bodies can do, even if we’re no longer using them ourselves.

And the way Mary Roach writes is so engrossing, I completely forgot I was reading non-fiction, and learning about something I would not have otherwise given a second thought to.

I give this one a B+.
